I was left totally unimpressed with the weapon upgrades, particularly your primary laser. One thing that is the biggest let down for me is the weapons. I know I can spend many more hours on it, and I probably will. It does have some good things going for it though, I mean the game itself is huge. I thought it was good enough to start this thread, because I haven't really played a space game like this before and it was exciting for me. Ok, I have about 10 hours into this, and I will agree with the above post that the game is boring. All in all I'm impressed with the detail and the immense size of the game. I'm kind of stuck in a certain star cluster right now because I can't warp far enough out to discover new clusters, so I'm just grinding out missions where I'm currently at. Also it seems pretty important to work for upgrades to the hyperspace field drive so you can warp farther out. You have to manage the cargo capacity, and your weapon loadout. From weaponry, to hull armor, to electronic gadgets that make your life easier. Everything you do, basically, is earn money so you can spend it upgrading all the different parts of your ship. Your ship, the Darkstar One, bequeathed to you from your Father, is the central piece of the game. You can just be a trader, which is boring, or you can align yourself as a pirate and steal other alien goods, or do mercenary missions, or smuggle illegal goods etc.there is really a ton of stuff to do in this game. This kind of dictates the police presence, and the presence of pirates, and what goods you can make money on etc. Not to mention each Star system has its own style of government, of which there are about 7 different government types. The real time economy in this game is absolutely amazing, I've never really seen something quite so in-depth. It's pretty open ended, I suppose it's similar 'generally' to other open world games like Red Dead and GTA, except in outer space, and you only control your ship, never any actual human control. After about 6 hours of gameplay I've only visited about 10 of those. The Star Map that you use to travel around the galaxy is freakin huge, I guess there's like 300 solar systems to work with. I have to say that at first I was bored out of my mind because my ship was so weak and it takes a long while to upgrade it, but I'm really getting into this thing. I did buy it because it was hella cheap and it looked like Colony Wars/ Wing Commander. Anybody here have some experience with this low profile space game? I only found out about it because it was recommended from Amazon for some reason, although I've never bought anything even remotely like it from them.
